Artspace Charter School
     ArtSpace is located in the beautiful Swannanoa Valley between Asheville and Black Mountain. It serves children in grades K through 8. ArtSpace is proud to be one of the very few state-recognized charter schools with a 10-year charter from the state of North Carolina. As such, there is no tuition cost for ArtSpace. We enjoy many of the financial advantages of public funding, but we're far from business-as-usual.

Asheville City Schools
    
The Mission of Asheville City Schools is to provide quality education in which we respect students' individual and cultural differences, develop their talents in partnership with family and community, and ensure that they possess the life skills necessary for personal success and civic responsibility. The Asheville City School System consists of 10 schools.
 

Buncombe County Schools
     BCS is the state's 10th largest school system and the largest district in Western North Carolina. We employ nearly 4,000 people and serve more than 25,000 students, making BCS the county's second largest employer. More than 50 different languages are spoken in our 41 schools.
     Our mission is to collaborate with all stakeholders to provide a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment that prepares all students to become responsible citizens in a diverse, global society.

Evergreen Community Charter School
     Evergreen Community Charter School is an innovative educational endeavor developed and operated collaboratively by educators, parents, students, and the larger community. Our learning community is inspired by a love of children and a commitment to the greater good, both of which inform our decisions and our practice.
     Evergreen Community Charter School is a learning community committed to the pursuit of excellence in the holistic education of mind, body, and spirit. We prepare students for successful lifelong learning, environmental responsibility, and service. We value the voice of every member of our community.


Francine Delany New School for Children
     We believe that students learn best when they are actively engaged in an experientially rich, hands-on program of study in classrooms that serve as working models of the learning community we strive to create.  Students are challenged to develop critical thinking skills and to reach ambitious academic goals while developing self-respect and respect for others.  Curiosity and creativity are valued; teachers function as guides and partners.  Grades K-8.

The Asheville School
     Asheville School is one of the nation's leading boarding schools. Our challenging academic program—including more than 17 Advanced Placement (AP) courses—helps give our students a competitive edge. They learn to reason and communicate clearly. They attend top colleges. Most importantly, they go on to lives of leadership and service. 

     Asheville School is small-about 250 dynamic, talented students in grades 9-12. Students receive support from dedicated, inspiring faculty, most of who live right on campus.

Carolina Day School
     Carolina Day School is Asheville's premier comprehensive independent school. Our goal is to discover the promise, inspire the journey, and celebrate the achievement of every student in our school. We are independent and non-sectarian. We are four schools in one. Christ School
     Founded in 1900 and affiliated with the Episcopal Church, Christ School provides a full college preparatory curriculum for the boys enrolled. Hallmarks of the Christ School experience include small classes (10-12 boys per class); Advanced Placement and honors courses in all subjects; extensive extracurricular opportunities; and, an outstanding faculty. The 500-acre campus and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains are home to Christ School's nationally recognized Outdoor Program. The athletic program features 17 teams in 11 sports with an emphasis at the Junior Varsity level on mastering fundamentals and with the emphasis for Varsity on providing a level of play competitive within our athletic conference. Graduates attend leading national universities.

Emmanuel Lutheran School
     Emmanuel Lutheran School was established in 1958 and has provided full-time Christian education to families of the congregation and community for nearly 50 years. Emmanuel Lutheran School is a member of the largest national system of Protestant schools in North America, totaling over 2,800 preschools, elementary schools, secondary schools, and colleges. ELS is operated as a non-profit, church sponsored educational ministry of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Asheville, North Carolina.

Hanger Hall School
     Hanger Hall, a school for girls, opened its doors in the fall of 1999.  Because the middle school years can be disruptive and dis-spiriting to girls in particular, we believe that a learning community limited to girls provides an educational experience that strengthens them as individuals while preparing them for the next steps in their education. Hanger Hall offers a sound learning environment and a focus on a strong core curriculum, a sense of belonging, and creative living skills.

The Learning Community School
     Our vision at The Learning Community School is to foster the inherent traits of compassion, commitment, creativity, courage, and curiosity within each child. To fulfill this vision, our mission at TLC is to create an environment where children enjoy learning, and where the educational needs of the whole child are addressed. This is done by providing hands-on experiential academics in combination with outdoor education, artistic expression, service learning, and TEAM work.

Rainbow Mountain Children's School
     Rainbow Mountain Children's School is proud to offer a private, independent and alternative educational program for preschool through middle school-aged children that draws from the best in current educational thinking and holistic models of child development. We are also recognized nationally as a leader in contemplative education.

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College
    
A-B Tech, the community’s college, is dedicated to student success.  As a comprehensive community college, A-B Tech is committed to providing accessible, quality educational opportunities for lifelong learning to meet the diverse and changing needs of our community.

Mars Hill College
     Mars Hill is well suited as a residence college. Located in a small town surrounded by mountains, rivers, woods, and all the outdoor activities they offer, the college's environment offers ample opportunity for study and reflection. However, its proximity to Asheville (about 20 minutes by car) allows access to city amenities like shopping, restaurants, entertainment, transportation, healthcare, and other facilities.

Montreat College
     Montreat College is a Christian liberal arts college accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to offer master's, bachelor's, and associate's degrees. The main campus is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains fifteen miles east of Asheville, North Carolina, a region recognized as one of the most attractive living environments in the United States. Satellite campuses in Asheville, Charlotte, and other sites supplement the main campus. The College is committed to Christ-centered teaching and learning, and is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.

South College - Asheville
     South College is a private, co-educational, nonsectarian academic institution, South College-Asheville offers varied and well-balanced programs at the bachelor, associate and certificate levels. The mission of the college is to identify and facilitate quality programs of study that bring students together in an academic setting which encourages the development of educated, responsible professionals who meet the demands of our employment market.

University of North Carolina at Asheville
     The University of North Carolina at Asheville offers a superior liberal arts education for well-prepared students who are committed to learning and personal growth. Its education is liberating, promoting the free and rigorous pursuit of truth, respect for differing points of view and heritage, and an understanding that values play a role in thought and action. Through this education the university aims to develop students of broad perspective who think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, and participate actively in their communities. UNCA is North Carolina's only designated public liberal arts university.

Warren Wilson College
     Warren Wilson College is an independent, accredited, four-year liberal arts college, which awards the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in a variety of disciplines and the Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing.

     The College was founded by Presbyterians in 1894 and maintains a covenant relationship with the Presbyterian Church (USA).      WCU was founded in 1889 to bring higher education and career opportunities to the western region of North Carolina. A member of the University of North Carolina system, WCU now provides an education to more than 9,000 students from 46 states and 39 countries.
